I had time to kill today, something I rarely have, and decided to do some new self portraits.

The backyard of my house is pretty much wild with ivy and weeds but, on the plus side, I have a beautiful hundred year old tree (of some variety) and this lovely, rickety, ivy covered fence, which are both yummy for backdrops. So, I broke out the cam and took about 150 photos of myself. Here are the few that I don’t outright hate. :)

Groomed Girls

Last weekend we got our girls groomed. Lexie, our mini Schnauzer, had been groomed once before but Kylie, our little Lhasa Apso we rescued a couple weeks back, hadn’t. Jeremy and I spend a lot of time outdoors and Kylie, with her thick, fluffy puppy coat, was just miserable. We decided to get her trimmed up quite a bit.

We dropped them both off on Saturday morning and waiting around anxiously all morning until they were done. We were so excited to see how they both turned out, especially Kylie, who was undergoing an extreme makeover.

Needless to say, we were thrilled with the results. Both of our girls turned out so beautiful and little Kylie enjoys being outdoors so much more now, after losing the thick, hot coat.

Here’s a few pictures of our girls and our boy, Gunnar, who didn’t get a haircut, but got a new bandana so he didn’t feel left out.

Laura’s Mares

Last night I made a quick trip out to Laura’s to snap some pictures of a few mares for her. It was fun! The sun was slowly on it’s decline, so the lighting was fantastic in parts, difficult in others, but we made it work.

Little Lexie

Lexie is growing my leaps and bounds. She’s still tiny, but she’s about twice the size she was when we got her. Each day her personality comes out more and more too. She’s a feisty, goofy, loving and stubborn – basically exactly what we had hoped for in a puppy. :)

Georgie the Labradoodle

Georgie is an authentic ASD Australian Labradoodle that lived with me for a short time. She flew in from Down Under and was a total joy to have around, until she went on to her permanent home. Her big brown nose and beautiful hazel eyes still melt me heart every time I see a picture of her.

Frakking Cylon

Yeah, I’m a sci-fi lovin’ Battlestar Galactica fan. Wanna make something of it? :)

This handsome fella is a 16″ statue of a Cylon Centurion that’s in my office at home. He stands guard over all of my precious goodies. Be warned.

The photo was taken with Canon Rebel XTi, Canon 50mm lens and then edited (to smithereens) in Photoshop.

Friendship beads

When my great-grandmother passed away when I was just a young child, all of the great-grandchildren made these friendship beads for her and pinned them to her lapel at the viewing.

In August of this year, my grandmother passed away. All of her grandkids and great-grandkids made her a set of friendship beads and she was buried with them. These are my beads, along with my brother and sister’s.

I miss you Grandma. Happy Mother’s Day.

Elijah

It’s hard to believe that my youngest nephew, Elijah, is nearing one year already. It seems like I was just at the hospital for his birth. It’s crazy how time flies, isn’t it?

Here’s a quick video I made of Eli while we were babysitting him. He’s so big! He’s crawling everywhere and is standing on his own (as long as he has something to hang on to). He’s going to be walking before we know it!

Lexie at play

Here’s a quick video of the miniature schnauzer puppy I got Jeremy for his birthday, which is approaching quickly. He named her Lexie, and she’s a total lover. At 7 weeks old, she’s nearly potty trained herself too, which is a major bonus!

Wal-Mart CEO is against gay adoption

This should definitely make people think twice about shopping at The Big Devil (aka Wal-Mart). The Borg of cheap crap (you will be assimilated) has a new-ish head honcho, and said HH signed a petition (along with his wife, Mrs. HH) to ban gay couples from adopting or being foster parents.

Conclusion: If you’re gay, he wants your money, and he wants you to shop in the baby section of his stores. He just hopes you are buying out the baby section for your straight friends and family members.

This is why we shop at Target.
